I fold into the mattress into my knees find the soft peach of my delicate delusion and drink she is melting hope into a beaker catching stars in our lungs leaving sulfur on my tongue like my wounded lover. I sate found the empty middle and plucked it with the same gentle weight which held my bated breast how deep does my delusion run? the silent current beneath the undertow portal or purgatory? I ebb wading waist deep in my heartbeat’s echo devouring the maw pressed palms praise a swallowed moon and claims she tastes like god.
The first Grey Coven write-in was yesterday!
I was late because I have very little control over my life, but we made just under the wire. The prompt given by the wonderful Cat Speranzini during the write-in was: moving on.
Naturally, I have never written a moving-on poem because I am permanently stuck in yearning. For mental health purposes, that is a joke!
Because it’s Escapril, I peppered a couple of prompts in here. You can thank these poets because I’m obsessed with them:
Kaitlyn Sun // sad.magical.girl // purgatory
Sonja Ringo //
// portal
In any case, I read the above poem open during the write in and received so much praise that it is being transferred out of Notes App Hell into Substack Midgard until it has a Lit Mag home! Because I can’t restack quotes if they are formatted in poetry form, we’re going to run it back to stick it to the coders:
How Prayer Learns the Hands

I fold into the mattress, into my knees; find the soft peach of my delicate delusion and drink. she is melting hope into a beaker, catching stars in our lungs, leaving sulfur on my tongue like my wounded lover.
I sate; found the empty middle and plucked it with the same gentle weight which held my bated breast. how deep does my delusion run? the silent current beneath the undertow. portal or purgatory?
I ebb, wading waist-deep in my heartbeat’s echo, devouring the maw. pressed palms praise a swallowed moon and claims she tastes like god.
Thank you for reading!
